Pfäffikon SZ railway station (Switzerland)
|
Pfäffikon SZ railway station (German: Bahnhof Pfäffikon SZ) is a junction station serving Pfäffikon, the principal town of the municipality of Freienbach, in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland.
The station forms part of the Lake Zurich left bank railway line, which links Zürich Hauptbahnhof with Ziegelbrücke and Näfels, and is owned and operated by the SBB-CFF-FFS.
The station is also a terminus for both the Lake Zurich–Gotthard railway and the Pfäffikon SZ–Arth-Goldau railway; each of these railways is owned and operated by the Südostbahn (SOB), a small private railway company.

The station is situated at the northern edge of the town, between the town centre and Lake Zurich.
Today's SBB-CFF-FFS station yard consists of seven platform lines.
Track 1 faces the main platform; goods trains run on that track and on track 4.
The Voralpen-Express and the SOB-operated Zürich S-Bahn trains use tracks 2 and 7.
Also on track 7, and on tracks 3, 5 and 6, can be seen the Zürich S-Bahn trains operated by the SBB-CFF-FFS.
Tracks 3 and 5 are used by InterRegio (InterCity/EuroCity) trains, as well as RegioExpress (Glarner Sprinter) and special trains.
The following SBB-CFF-FFS and SOB long distance trains stop at Pfäffikon:
Pfäffikon is both a through station and a terminal station of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund. The following S-Bahn lines, all of them part of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund, call at Pfäffikon. While the S-Bahn lines with the lower numbers are operated by the SBB-CFF-FFS, the ones with the higher numbers (from S40) are run by the Südostbahn.
